The government has shared significant information regarding EPFO ​​3.0 in the Lok Sabha. Under this new system, claim settlement has been expedited, the pension payment mechanism has been improved, and administrative processes have been significantly simplified. Shobha Karandlaje, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, stated that services are being digitized through EPFO ​​3.0 to ensure that people receive greater convenience in a shorter span of time.

According to the government, the Centralized Pension Payment System (CPPS) is now fully operational. As of January 1, 2025, all EPFO ​​offices have been functioning on this system. Consequently, more than 7 million pensioners are now receiving their monthly pensions on time and without errors.

Claims Being Settled in Auto Mode
A major improvement has also been observed in the realm of claim settlement. As of February 25, 2026, over 35.2 million claims—amounting to up to ₹500,000 each—have been settled in 'auto mode.' During the current financial year, 71.37% of all advance claims were processed without any manual intervention, resulting in the disbursement of approximately ₹516.2 billion.

Funds Being Transferred Automatically
For employees changing jobs, the process of transferring their EPF accounts has also become significantly easier. As of February 25, 2026, over 7.05 million transfer claims were initiated automatically, requiring no intervention from either the employee or the employer. Once KYC formalities are complete, approval from the previous or current employer is no longer required. Furthermore, over 2.13 million employees have successfully submitted transfer claims without any assistance from their employers.

Claims Settled Within 3 Days
EPFO 3.0 represents a major digital reform aimed at simplifying procedures and minimizing paperwork. Most services are now accessible on a single unified platform. Most importantly, while claim settlement previously took up to 20 days, the same process is now being completed in less than three days.
