A new metro interchange will soon be built at Peeragarhi in West Delhi, enabling a direct transfer between the Green and Magenta lines. According to the DMRC, the new section could open by the end of this year.

If you travel via the Delhi Metro and commute to areas in West Delhi, there is good news for you. An interchange is being developed at Peeragarhi that will allow passengers to easily switch between the Green and Magenta lines. Significantly, passengers will not need to exit the metro network to change lines.

According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), plans are underway to connect the existing Peeragarhi station on the Green Line with the upcoming station on the Magenta Line's Krishna Park Extension-Deepali Chowk section. A major portion of the project is already complete, and the new connection is expected to become operational by the end of the year.

How will the Peeragarhi interchange work?

The existing Peeragarhi station on the Green Line will be linked to the new Magenta Line station. A foot-overbridge, approximately 160 meters long, is being constructed between the two stations. Since this connection will be located within the metro's paid area, passengers will not need to step outside the station to switch lines. Both stations will be elevated, making it convenient for passengers to move from one corridor to the other.

When might the new interchange open?

DMRC officials state that work on this new connection is progressing rapidly, and it is expected to open to passengers by the end of 2026. Approximately 90% of the civil construction work for the Peeragarhi interchange has been completed, meaning only 10% remains. Currently, the final architectural works at the station are underway.

How will commuters in West Delhi benefit?

Commuters from nearby areas such as Peeragarhi, Peeragarhi Village, Udyog Nagar, and Paschim Vihar will enjoy better connectivity.
Commuters traveling between the Green and Magenta Lines will have a direct interchange facility.
There will be no need to exit the station to switch lines.
Access to various parts of West and North-West Delhi could become easier.
The availability of an interchange facility could save commuters time and reduce travel-related hassles.
