New Delhi: The Delhi government is preparing to launch its ambitious Mahila Samridhi Yojana, promising ₹2500 monthly financial aid to eligible women. The scheme, announced during the state elections, is yet to be implemented but is expected to begin soon, possibly around Raksha Bandhan as per government sources.

🔹 What is Mahila Samridhi Yojana?

The scheme aims to provide direct financial assistance to Delhi's economically weaker women through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The Delhi government has allocated a budget of ₹5100 crore, signaling a strong commitment to women’s welfare and financial independence.

🔹 Who is Eligible?

To benefit from Mahila Samridhi Yojana, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Must be a permanent resident of Delhi (proof via Ration Card).

  • Annual family income should be below ₹3 lakh (might be reduced to ₹2.5 lakh).

  • No member of the household should be an income tax payer.

  • Women employed in government jobs will not be eligible.

  • If the family owns a private car, the woman will be excluded from the scheme benefits.

🔹 How Will the Scheme Work?

  • Benefits will be directly credited to the bank accounts of eligible women via DBT.

  • The government aims to eliminate middlemen and ensure transparent delivery of funds.

🔹 When Will the Scheme Launch?

Although the exact date hasn't been announced, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta recently indicated that registrations will open soon. Speculations suggest a symbolic launch on Raksha Bandhan, making it a memorable gift for millions of women across the capital.

🔹 Why It Matters

This scheme is expected to significantly empower women, particularly housewives and those from underprivileged backgrounds. The ₹2500 monthly aid can help with household needs, children’s education, or starting small businesses — a crucial step towards financial independence and dignity.
