LPG Update: Discussions regarding LPG cylinders have intensified recently, and confusion persists among the public regarding e-KYC. Many users remain unclear about whether the process is mandatory for them. However, the government has clarified the situation. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has stated that e-KYC is part of an ongoing process and not a new rule; the objective is simply to ensure the accuracy of LPG user data.
Which users need to complete e-KYC?
According to government information, e-KYC is not mandatory for all LPG users. It is required only for those who have not yet completed the process. Simply put, if you have already completed e-KYC, there is no need to do it again.
How to complete e-KYC
If you haven't completed e-KYC yet, you should do so as soon as possible. LPG companies offer this facility via mobile apps; for instance, Bharat Gas consumers can complete the process using the 'Hello BPCL' app. Alternatively, you can visit your nearest gas agency to get the e-KYC done.
Why is e-KYC necessary?
The objective behind e-KYC is to bring transparency to the LPG system.
It will help curb fake and duplicate connections.
It will also enable the government to ensure subsidies reach eligible beneficiaries. If a death occurs in the family, do not overlook these 5 tasks—your money could get stuck; find out today.
An important point to note:
The government has clarified that those who have already completed their e-KYC do not need to do it again, but those who haven't should get it done as soon as possible. Therefore, there is no need to panic regarding e-KYC.
