LPG Price Hike: Inflation hits ahead of the festive season; gas cylinder prices increased by up to ₹70 starting October 1..
A significant blow has been dealt just before the start of the festive season. Prices of LPG cylinders in the country have increased effective from October 1. However, the price hike is limited to 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders. State-owned oil marketing companies have raised prices by up to ₹70. Consequently, the price of a 19-kg commercial gas cylinder in Delhi has risen by ₹62.5 to ₹2,810, up from the previous ₹2,747.50.
Similarly, the price per cylinder has increased by ₹70 to ₹2,954 in Kolkata, by ₹63.54 to ₹2,764.5 in Mumbai, and by ₹66.5 to ₹2,983 in Chennai. Commercial LPG cylinders are used in hotels, restaurants, *dhabas*, and other commercial establishments.
**Commercial cylinders had become costlier in September too**
Prices of commercial LPG cylinders had previously increased in September as well. The hike was up to ₹10.50. Following the September increase, the price of a 19-kg commercial gas cylinder stood at ₹2,747.50 in Delhi, ₹2,701 in Mumbai, ₹2,916.50 in Chennai, and ₹2,884 in Kolkata.
Earlier this year, prices of commercial LPG cylinders had dropped in August and July. The reduction was up to ₹209 in August and ₹183.5 in July. Prior to that, between January and June of this year, commercial LPG cylinder prices had risen seven consecutive times. Prices were hiked twice in March, driven by supply disruptions and concerns in the global LPG market caused by the US-Iran conflict in West Asia.
**No change in domestic LPG cylinder prices**
There has been no change in the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder. The price was last revised on June 7, 2026, increasing by ₹29. According to the Indian Oil Corporation website, the current price of a non-subsidized 14.2 kg domestic Indane LPG cylinder in Delhi is ₹942. The price is ₹941 in Mumbai, ₹968 in Kolkata, and ₹957.50 in Chennai. Rates vary across states depending on local sales tax or VAT.
