LPG Price Hike: Cooking Gas Gets Costlier! Find Out the New LPG Cylinder Rates in Your City..
LPG Price Hike Today: Major news regarding cooking gas has emerged for the general public. While the prices of domestic LPG cylinders currently remain stable, the prices of commercial gas cylinders have witnessed a significant hike. This could directly impact the pockets of the common man, particularly those who frequently dine out. Additionally, new regulations related to gas booking have come into effect starting May 1st.
According to reports, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders could also be hiked by Rs 40 to Rs 50 per cylinder. Significantly, an increase in cylinder prices is expected within the next 5 to 7 days.
**Commercial LPG Becomes More Expensive**
While the government has not yet raised the prices of domestic LPG cylinders, a substantial hike has been implemented for the 19-kg commercial gas cylinders.
- In Delhi, the price has risen to Rs 3,071.50.
- In Mumbai, the price has reached Rs 3,024.
It is reported that since the conflict involving Iran began, commercial LPG prices have been hiked three times so far.
**Impact on Hotels and Restaurants**
The rise in commercial gas prices will have a direct impact on hotels, *dhabas* (roadside eateries), and restaurants. Consequently, dining out and food delivery services may become more expensive, as business owners are likely to pass this increased cost on to their customers.
**Why Are Gas Prices Rising?**
According to experts, ongoing international tensions—particularly the conflict involving Iran—have exerted upward pressure on oil and gas prices. Since India relies heavily on imports for its crude oil and gas requirements, the repercussions of this global crisis are being felt domestically as well.
**Petrol and Diesel Prices Remain Stable**
On a reassuring note, there has been no change in petrol and diesel prices for the time being. Furthermore, the prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) for domestic airlines have also been kept stable.
**Oil Companies Incurring Heavy Losses**
According to reports, oil marketing companies are currently purchasing crude oil at high international rates but are continuing to sell it to consumers at the previous, lower rates. As a result, they are incurring daily losses amounting to crores of rupees. The government faces a dilemma: if prices are raised, inflation will rise; conversely, if they are not raised, the companies will suffer losses.
New LPG Rules Effective from May 1st:
The rules for booking gas cylinders have now also changed—
- In urban areas, a new cylinder can now be booked only after a gap of 25 days (previously, this period was 21 days).
- In rural areas, this waiting period has been extended to 45 days.
- Cylinder deliveries will no longer be made without an OTP (under the DAC system).
This means that for every booking, an OTP will now be sent to your registered mobile number; the cylinder will be delivered only after this OTP is provided.
