The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to cover the cost of six free LPG cylinders annually for families falling under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY). The scheme benefits families in Jammu and Kashmir who hold an AAY ration card—a card issued specifically to the most economically vulnerable families.
In other words, simply having an LPG connection is not enough to qualify; you must hold an Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration card to avail of this benefit.
How will the 6 free LPG cylinders be provided?
According to the government, the scheme will operate via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Beneficiaries must first purchase the LPG cylinder through the standard process. Subsequently, the designated amount will be transferred as a subsidy to their Aadhaar-linked bank account. In other words, you will have to make the payment upfront when purchasing the cylinder, and the amount will subsequently be credited back to your account under the scheme.
