LPG Gas Booking Rules: Government Refutes Reports of 35-Day Booking Limit; Urges Public Not to Trust Rumors..
LPG Gas Booking Rules: Amidst the ongoing tensions in the Gulf nations, various reports regarding the supply of LPG in the country have been continuously surfacing. Meanwhile, late on Tuesday night, speculation intensified that the rules for booking gas cylinders had been changed once again. It was being rumored that consumers with double-cylinder connections would only be able to book a refill after 35 days, while a 25-day rule would apply to those with single-cylinder connections, and a 45-day rule for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. These reports created a state of confusion among the public. However, the government has now issued a clear clarification regarding all these reports.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB), posting on its official social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter), stated that no changes have been made to the LPG booking rules.
According to the government, the rules currently in force will continue to remain applicable for the time being. For consumers in urban areas, a gap of 25 days will continue to apply. This means that once a cylinder is received, the next booking can only be made after 25 days. Conversely, for rural areas, this waiting period has been set at 45 days. In villages, the type of connection—whether single or double cylinder—does not matter; the 45-day rule will apply equally to everyone.
The PIB also clarified that reports suggesting the implementation of separate new rules for double-cylinder holders or beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana are completely false. Such information constitutes mere rumors, and the general public should not place any trust in them.
The government has issued a special appeal to the public not to engage in panic booking of gas cylinders. Panic booking could place unnecessary pressure on the supply chain. Officials assert that there are adequate stocks of LPG, petrol, and diesel available in the country, and there is no situation of shortage whatsoever.
Therefore, it is essential for citizens to rely solely on official information and to steer clear of rumors. Following credible sources, such as the PIB, remains the best way to obtain accurate information.
