LPG e-KYC: Gas cylinder subsidy and refilling services could be stopped! Complete this essential task immediately..
If you use a domestic LPG cylinder and avail of the subsidy, this update is important for you. Public sector oil companies are continuously urging consumers to complete their Aadhaar-based e-KYC to ensure uninterrupted access to gas refills, subsidies, and other services. Completing e-KYC is considered essential, particularly for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) has also advised customers who have not yet completed their Aadhaar-based e-KYC to do so promptly. However, the company has clarified that customers who have already completed the e-KYC process do not need to repeat it.
How to complete e-KYC?
BPCL customers can complete their e-KYC from the comfort of their homes using the 'HelloBPCL' app via Aadhaar face authentication. The 'Aadhaar FaceRD' app may also be required for this process. Alternatively, consumers can easily complete their e-KYC by visiting their nearest LPG distributor or gas agency.
Why is e-KYC necessary for an LPG connection?
Linking both the bank account and the LPG connection with Aadhaar is mandatory to ensure that subsidy payments under DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) are credited directly to your bank account on time.
e-KYC helps identify and deactivate fake or multiple gas connections registered under the same name.
It ensures that delivery or transfer processes can be completed smoothly without any interruptions.
What could be the consequences of not completing e-KYC?
According to oil companies, the objective of e-KYC is to verify genuine beneficiaries and make the LPG distribution system more transparent. Customers who have not completed their e-KYC may face difficulties in receiving gas subsidies, booking refills, or accessing other services in the future. Therefore, it is advisable to complete this process in a timely manner.
Beware of Fraudulent Messages and Calls
Oil companies have advised consumers to stay alert against cyber fraud. Often, messages are sent from unknown numbers claiming that the gas connection will be disconnected or the subsidy stopped within 24 hours. Do not click on links provided in such messages, nor share your personal information. Complete the e-KYC process only through the official app, website, or an authorized gas agency.
If you have not yet completed your e-KYC, check your status first. Doing so ensures the uninterrupted continuation of your LPG subsidy, gas refills, and other services, while also keeping you safe from fraud.
