Perform a Simple Test Using a Wet Cloth

The easiest way to check the gas level is the “wet cloth test.” To perform this, soak a cotton cloth in water, wring it out slightly, and then wrap it around the cylinder. Remove the cloth after 2 to 3 minutes. The section of the cylinder that dries quickly indicates the absence of gas, whereas the section that remains wet for a longer period indicates where the gas is present.
