What was the price increase for commercial cylinders starting November 1?

On Sunday, November 1, the price of a 19 kg commercial gas cylinder was increased by ₹10. However, there has been no change in the prices of domestic cooking gas, petrol, or diesel. According to petroleum companies, the price of commercial LPG—used in hotels and restaurants—has been increased by ₹10, bringing it to ₹2,820. The price of commercial gas cylinders has been seeing consistent hikes; previously, on October 1, the price was raised by ₹62.50. In September, too, the cost of a cylinder had gone up by ₹9.50.

However, prior to this, in July and August, the prices of commercial LPG had been reduced by ₹183.50 and ₹192, respectively. In June, commercial LPG prices had reached record levels due to a surge in the international energy market and supply-related constraints. Between February and June, the price of a 19-kg cylinder saw a cumulative increase of ₹1,373, rising from ₹1,740.50 to ₹3,113.50.

Petroleum companies review LPG prices on the first of every month. These prices are determined based on international benchmark rates for the respective products and the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Furthermore, prices vary across states due to local taxes, particularly VAT. Meanwhile, domestic consumers have received some relief for now; the price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder has remained unchanged at ₹942. There has also been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel.
