A recent report indicates that LPG consumption in India has fallen to an 8-month low of 2.61 million tonnes. Despite a blockade in the 'Strait of Hormuz' due to ongoing conflicts in West Asia, there has been an increase in supply from markets in the United States and Algeria. Compared to the previous month, LPG consumption has risen by 2.8%, but it has declined by 9% when compared to the same period last year.

It should be noted that petroleum companies review LPG prices on the first of every month. These prices are determined based on the benchmark rates of the respective products in the international market and the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Furthermore, price variations across states occur due to local taxes, particularly VAT. On the other hand, domestic consumers have received some relief for now. The price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder has been kept unchanged at Rs 942. There has also been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel.
