LPG Cylinder Price: Gas Cylinder Price Jumps by 993 Rupees—Find Out the Total Price Hike So Far
LPG Cylinder Price: Effective today, May 1, 2026, the price of commercial LPG cylinders has been hiked by 993 rupees. This marks the third consecutive price hike witnessed this year.
LPG Cylinder Price Hike: Amidst the conflict between Iran and the US—and the resulting escalation in global energy tensions—India has announced a massive hike in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders. This hike comes into effect on May 1, 2026, resulting in a price increase of 993 rupees.
This price revision applies to 19-kilogram commercial cylinders—typically used by hotels, restaurants, and small businesses—while domestic consumers have been exempted from this immediate price change.
Following this rate revision, the price of a 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has risen to ₹3,071.50, marking one of the most significant price hikes witnessed in recent years. This price increase has been necessitated by the global energy crisis, as geopolitical instability in West Asia has triggered a massive surge in crude oil prices.
Relief for Common Households Amidst Rising Inflation
Despite the massive hike in commercial fuel prices, the government has kept the prices of domestic LPG unchanged. In Delhi, the price of a 14.2-kilogram domestic cylinder remains steady at ₹913, offering relief to millions of households already grappling with the burden of inflation. This LPG price hike is part of a series of consecutive price revisions implemented over the last two months.
Since March of this year, commercial LPG rates have been revised multiple times. This underscores the pressure India is currently facing due to supply disruptions and the increased costs associated with imports. India, being heavily dependent on LPG imports, has been particularly vulnerable to a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, as it serves as a crucial route for global energy shipments.
Changes in Domestic LPG Prices
The first hike in domestic gas prices this year occurred in March, when rates were raised by ₹60. Consequently, prices in Delhi surged from ₹853 to ₹913. In the month of May, prices were kept unchanged.
