Reports have circulated in various regions suggesting that the government has altered the rules regarding LPG bookings. It was alleged that customers holding two cylinders—that is, those with a 'Double Bottle Connection'—would now be required to wait 35 days after their previous delivery before booking a refill. Previously, this waiting period stood at 25 days. This rule was said to apply across all areas—urban, rural, and remote regions alike. However, the government has refuted these reports. The government clarified that, currently, LPG bookings remain available after 25 days in urban areas and after 45 days in rural areas.

Numerous news reports and social media posts had claimed that the government had made a major decision regarding LPG connections. These reports suggested that individuals possessing two cylinders under a single connection would now have to wait 35 days before booking a new cylinder. In other words, while one cylinder would be in use and the other kept at home as a backup, the subsequent booking could only be initiated after 35 days. This timeframe—previously 25 days—was reportedly extended by the government to ensure equitable gas distribution to all consumers. However, the government has categorically denied all such claims. As of now, no changes have been implemented regarding LPG booking procedures.

Reports further alleged that consumers covered under the *Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana* would henceforth be permitted to book a new cylinder only after a waiting period of 45 days. Additionally, it was claimed that those holding a 'Single Bottle Connection' would continue to receive their cylinders after 25 days. Addressing these assertions, the government has issued a clarification stating that no such changes have been implemented at this time.

The Government on LPG, Petrol, and Diesel

The government continues to issue regular statements regarding the supply of LPG, as well as petrol and diesel. The Ministry of Petroleum has released a statement affirming that the supply of all three commodities remains steady across the country. There is no need for panic. Furthermore, the government is taking strict action against hoarders.
