LPG Booking Waiting Time Reduced; Agencies Boost Delivery Speed; Supply Chain Improvements Benefit Customers
LPG Booking Update: Amidst previous difficulties in booking LPG cylinders, there is now welcome news for customers. Delivery agencies have begun implementing improvements to the supply chain. Customers will no longer have to endure long waiting periods.
LPG Booking News: Amidst the geopolitical tensions between Iran and the US, India has been facing a shortage of crude oil and LPG gas. This situation has now gradually begun to stabilize. In the meantime, relief has arrived for gas consumers. For several days, customers had been experiencing significant delays in receiving their LPG cylinders even after booking them. However, agencies have now committed to streamlining the supply chain. Consequently, consumers will no longer face prolonged waits for their cylinders.
Improvements Underway in the Delivery Process
Recently, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, stated during a press conference: "Currently, daily bookings range between 4.6 to 5 million (46–50 lakh). Deliveries are proceeding normally. On April 16, approximately 5 million (50 lakh) refilled cylinders were delivered directly to consumers' doorsteps. The statistics are gradually trending back toward normalcy." She further added that the onset of the summer season is also aiding this process, as the demand for heating decreases during this period.
Supply Remains Normal
She confirmed that the supply of domestic LPG remains normal, and no reports of shortages have been received from any distributor centers. Approximately 98 percent of the total demand has been fulfilled through online bookings, and the rate of verified deliveries—aimed at curbing illicit supply—has risen to over 90 percent. Supported by targeted measures—such as increased allocation of smaller cylinders for migrant workers and the expansion of delivery drives by state-run oil marketing companies—commercial LPG supply has been restored to approximately 70 percent of its pre-crisis levels. He also stated that, since March 23, more than 16.41 lakh 5-kilogram LPG cylinders—valued at market rates—have been sold to individuals who do not possess domestic cooking gas connections. These beneficiaries include migrant workers, students, working professionals, and small business owners.
