The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has given a big relief to the former Agniveers. Now Agniveers will get 20% reservation during recruitment in UP Police. This decision has been approved in the UP Cabinet recently and its benefit will be especially available to those youth who have completed four years of Agnipath service.

UP Minister Suresh Khanna, while giving information to the media, said that this reservation will be applicable in direct recruitment to posts like constable, fireman and mounted police. Along with this, Agniveers will also be given a relaxation of three years in the age limit, so that they can get more opportunities in recruitment.

The special thing is that provision of reservation has also been made within the reservation. That is, former Agniveers of EWS, SC, ST and OBC category will get reservation according to their category. This system will come into effect from 2026 and the first batch of Agniveers can be seen in UP Police in the same year.

Not only UP, reservation is also being given in these states

UP is not the first state to give priority to former Agniveers in government recruitment. Haryana, Rajasthan and Assam have already announced reservation for Agniveers in government jobs.

The Haryana government has talked about giving priority to Agniveers in police and other departments.

The Rajasthan government is also giving opportunities to former Agniveers in departments like police and home guard.

Assam has also ensured reservation for Agniveers in government recruitments.

Priority is also being given in central forces

Many agencies of the central government like BSF, CISF, ITBP and SSB had already announced that former soldiers coming out of the Agneepath scheme will be given priority in recruitment.
