First of all, go to the official website of National Voter Service Portal NVSP https://voters.eci.gov.in/ or Voter Helpline App. There, select the Search in Electoral Roll option and enter your name, father or husband's name, date of birth and state information.

As soon as you search, all the voter entries related to your name will appear on the screen. If more than one record appears in the list, then immediately contact the Booth Level Officer (BLO) of your area. Or go to the election office and tell about this. He will remove the duplicate entry and update the record.

Can there be punishment for having two voter cards?

If someone has two voter cards, then it is illegal. According to the Representation of the People Act, 1950 and 1951, it is punishable for a person to have his name registered in more than one constituency or to get a second card made by giving incorrect information. If the investigation proves that this has been done intentionally, then there can be both a punishment of six months to one year and a fine. In such cases, the Election Commission can order the removal of the duplicate entry as well as a police FIR. Sometimes this mistake is made unknowingly.
