Assam MMUA Scheme: After Bihar, a major scheme for women has been launched in Assam. This scheme, launched before the assembly elections, is directly benefiting thousands of women. Learn how to apply.

Assam MMUA Scheme: To strengthen women's empowerment in the country, the central and state governments are continuously launching new schemes. Before the assembly elections in Bihar, the Nitish government launched a scheme providing Rs 10,000 to women, which directly benefited millions of women. Now, on similar lines, a major initiative for women has been launched in Assam before the assembly elections.

The Assam government has started providing initial capital to women associated with Self-Help Groups to boost women's self-employment. The government claims that this scheme will increase employment in rural areas, improve family incomes, and enable women to start their own small businesses. Let's tell you how women can apply for this.

The Assam Government is giving Rs 10,000

The BJP government in Assam has launched the Chief Minister's Women Entrepreneurship Campaign (MMUA) scheme. Under this scheme, members of women's self-help groups in all 35 districts have started receiving initial capital of Rs 10,000. According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, more than 15 lakh women have already received this amount. Initially, the scheme aimed to reach 32 lakh women.

But now it has been increased to 40 lakh. According to government figures, about 8 lakh women have already become millionaires. Several thousand women have been given Rs 10,000. The government says that this is strengthening the rural economy and enabling women to start their own businesses.

What is the application process?

This scheme will benefit only those women who are associated with a recognised Self-Help Group. First, you will have to contact the self-help group operating at the panchayat or block level in your district. Documents such as an Aadhaar card, bank account details, residence certificate, and documents related to group membership will be required. After verification, Rs. 10,000 is transferred to the women's bank accounts as the first instalment.

If a woman uses this amount effectively to start her small business, the next step is even more significant. The government provides a loan of Rs. 25,000 at a low interest rate. If the business is successful, she can receive up to Rs. 50,000 in the third instalment. The government aims to empower 40 lakh women by making them financially independent and thereby giving a new boost to the state's economy.
