Pensioners have to submit their life certificates to the bank once a year. This is proof that the beneficiary of the pension is alive and should get a pension. It has to be submitted by 30 November every year. In case of not doing so, the pension stops.

What is a Life Certificate?

As the name suggests, a Life Certificate is proof of a person being alive. Pensioners have to submit this document to the distributing agency to continue their pension. Also, a Life Certificate has to be submitted to the bank from which the pension amount is coming. Pensioners can do this work sitting at home by taking advantage of services like Digital Life Certificate.

Why is a Life Certificate necessary?

Pension is the only support for most people in their old age. This covers their medicines and other necessary expenses. But, the government does not want the pension system to be misused. This is the reason why it will be necessary to submit a Life Certificate once a year. This ensures that only the living person is getting the benefit of a pension. In the absence of a life certificate, the pension continues to be credited to the pensioner's account even after his death.

Life Certificate Deadline

According to government rules, pensioners between 60 and 80 years of age can submit their life certificates from 1 November to 30 November. At the same time, senior citizens above 80 years of age have the time to submit the life certificate from 1 October to 30 November. This means that every pensioner has to submit the life certificate by 30, no matter what his age is. If the life certificate is not submitted within this time limit, the pension may stop.

If you want to submit the life certificate personally, then you can submit it to the pension-paying bank, post office, and recognized service center.
