Lenskart co-founder's degree issue becomes a topic of discussion, DU issues clarification

Lenskart co-founder Sumeet Kapahi is unable to get his B.Com degree and marksheet from Delhi University; DU has replied that no valid application has been received so far, so the documents were not issued.
Eyewear brand Lenskart is currently preparing for its IPO (stock market launch), but during this time an interesting thing has come to light. Something happened regarding the degree and marksheet of the company's co-founder Sumeet Kapahi that now this matter is covered in social media and news. In fact, when Lenskart submitted its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) to market regulator SEBI, a special thing was revealed in it that Kapahi is unable to find his B.Com (Hons) degree and marksheet.
Showing transparency, the company wrote in the "Risk Factors" section of the IPO documents that their Global Head of Sourcing and Promoter Sumit Kapahi is not getting the degree and mark sheet received from Delhi University (DU). He claimed that several emails and letters have been sent to DU. He even applied online on the DU website, but did not get any response.
What did DU say?
Now an official statement has come from Delhi University on this matter, in which the whole situation has been clarified. The university said that Sumit Kapahi has neither applied online nor offline for the degree or mark sheet. That is, till now the university has not received any request from him.
After searching all the records, the examination branch of DU made it clear that no email, letter or application form has been filed from Kapahi. However, the investigation did reveal that a person named Dipesh, who had deposited the fee for a duplicate marksheet in the name of Sumit Kapahi on July 16, 2025, did not fill the required online form, due to which the process remained incomplete.
What to do now?
DU has clarified that if Sumit Kapahi really wants a copy of his marksheet or degree, then he will have to go to the official portal and apply online under the prescribed procedure and pay the fees.
