The university had previously extended the registration deadline for the 2026-27 session; eligible candidates can now submit their applications online by today, September 16. The deadline was originally set for September 14. This facility is available to students who completed a 4-year undergraduate program at Delhi University under the National Education Policy and the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework. DU has established a special provision for such eligible students to gain direct admission to the PhD program.

Direct opportunity for 4-year UG degree holders

This DU provision has been designed with the 4-year undergraduate program in mind. Under this scheme, holders of a 4-year undergraduate degree who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria can apply directly for the PhD program. In other words, the standard admission process—which typically requires a postgraduate (PG) degree following a 3-year undergraduate course—does not apply to this specific admission pathway. Students who have not yet applied can complete their application today.

How to apply for DU PhD admission

To apply online, candidates should first visit the DU admission portal at admission.uod.ac.in.
Next, open the section dedicated to PhD admissions on the portal.
Enter your enrollment number and date of birth.
Create an applicant account, log in, and fill in your personal and educational details.
Upload the necessary documents and other required information.
Pay the fee, review all the information in the form, and submit it.
After submission, download the confirmation page and keep it safe for future reference.

Candidates must carefully review their personal details, academic records, and research proposals alongside their applications. Any necessary changes or updates to the research proposal must be completed today. The university has advised candidates not to wait until the last minute.
