The central government has launched the Swayam and Swayam Plus platforms to provide employment-oriented education from home.
Digital Learning: To make the youth competent for employment and for their professional development, more than one lakh people have joined the Swayam Plus digital learning platform launched by the central government in collaboration with IIT Madras and renowned industries of the country and the world in 6 months.
The central government prepared the platform to reach people through digital mediums by identifying employment-oriented courses for the youth seeking employment and the needs of the industries. Recent data on this platform has revealed that 78 percent of these 1 lakh active digital learners are from non-metro or small cities. Of these, 58 percent of digital learners are college students while 22 percent are employed people who are engaged in fulfilling the goal of taking their career to new heights by improving their abilities.
60 out of 320 programs are credit aligned
Swayam Plus digital platform has signed 55 MoUs with industries like Microsoft, Wadhwani Foundation, TCS, 360 Digi, and LNT Edu Tech in sync with the market demand. Along with this, it has also been successful in getting internships to 11000 people so far. Currently, this platform is conducting 320 live programs, out of which 60 are credit-aligned. This means that in these courses, along with the ability and skill to build a career, learning also gets credit.
The Swayam portal is also witnessing tremendous growth.
The special thing is that the original platform of which Swayam Plus is a part launched as the face of India's digital education revolution is also growing continuously. During the academic session 202-24 alone, more than 75 lakh registrations have been done on the Swayam platform, which is 21 percent more than in 2022-23. Officials of the Ministry of Education believe that the ever-increasing coordination and the conduct of 320 live courses shows that the people of the country, especially the youth, have a special positive trend towards this digital education revolution of the Central Government because they are getting benefits due to the courses conducted in this platform.
Increased interest in different types of courses
According to the data, the number of digital learners joining courses like Digital and Emerging Technology, Banking, Finance, and Insurance has increased significantly. This shows that this platform is proving to be very helpful in preparing students for high-demand responsibilities. The courses of Accounting Fundamentals, AI Engineering, Data Analytics, Data Analyst, and Professional English are most popular among the people on the platform. These courses help the youth to develop the skills required for high demand jobs.
Employees are also joining the platform
Since its launch in February 2024, more than one lakh 10 thousand digital learners have joined the Swayam Plus portal so far. Apart from this, two lakh forty thousand unique website visitors have visited the platform. Most of them belong to non metros or small cities. The special thing is that apart from 58 percent college students, 22 percent working people are also joining the Swayam Plus portal and are trying to improve their professional skills and move ahead in their career through various courses.
