Ladli Laxmi Yojana: The Madhya Pradesh government is running an excellent scheme to financially strengthen the future of daughters and promote their education. It is known as the 'Mukhyamantri Ladli Laxmi Yojana' (Chief Minister's Ladli Laxmi Scheme). The scheme was launched on April 1, 2007. Under this initiative, eligible girls receive financial assistance upon reaching specific grade levels.
Ladli Laxmi Yojana: Under the Mukhyamantri Ladli Laxmi Yojana, a certificate worth ₹1.43 lakh is issued following the online registration of an eligible girl. It is important to note that this amount is not deposited into the bank account as a lump sum; instead, it is disbursed in separate installments according to the scheme's prescribed stages.
What is the Ladli Laxmi Yojana?
The Mukhyamantri Ladli Laxmi Yojana is an initiative of the Women and Child Development Department of Madhya Pradesh. Its objectives are as follows:
- To improve the sex ratio in Madhya Pradesh.
- To foster a positive mindset among the general public regarding the birth of girls.
- To improve the status of girls' education and health within society.
- To reduce the population growth rate.
- To encourage family planning—specifically, to discourage the desire for a male child after the birth of two daughters.
- To lay a strong foundation for the bright future of girls.
- To prevent female foeticide and infanticide.
- To create a positive and enabling environment for the development of girls.
- To discourage child marriage and encourage marriage at the legally prescribed age.
How much money is provided under the Ladli Laxmi Yojana?
Admission to Class 6: ₹2,000
Admission to Class 9: ₹4,000
Admission to Class 11: ₹6,000
Admission to Class 12: ₹6,000
Undergraduate/Vocational course after Class 12: ₹25,000
Upon attaining the age of 21: ₹1,00,000. An incentive amount of ₹25,000 is provided in two equal installments to eligible girls enrolling in undergraduate or vocational courses after Class 12. The course duration must be at least two years.
₹1 lakh upon turning 21
When the girl completes 21 years of age, a sum of ₹1 lakh is deposited into her bank account. For this, it is mandatory for the girl to have appeared for the Class 12 examination. If the girl is married, the marriage must have taken place after attaining the prescribed minimum age.
Who can avail the benefits of the scheme?

The girl must have been born on or after January 1, 2006.

The girl's parents must be natives of Madhya Pradesh.

The parents must have a maximum of two children.

Family planning measures must have been adopted in the case of the second child.

The parents must not be income taxpayers. The girl must be registered at an Anganwadi center.

A girl born from the first delivery will be eligible for the scheme's benefits even without the adoption of family planning measures.

In families with a maximum of two children where the mother or father has passed away, registration can be done up to 5 years after the girl's birth. However, in such cases, if the parent remarries and already has two children, a daughter born from the second marriage will not be eligible for the scheme's benefits.

If three girls are born simultaneously during the first delivery, all three will receive the benefits of the Ladli Laxmi Yojana.

Eligible girls born to female prisoners in jail will also be entitled to the scheme's benefits. The benefits of the scheme will also be extended to a girl child born to a rape survivor.

In cases where families have not adopted family planning measures due to health-related reasons, the District Collector has been authorized to grant approval for up to two cases (instead of the usual one).

The application must be submitted by the superintendent of the orphanage or care home within one year of the girl's admission and before she turns five years old. Similarly, adoptive parents must apply within one year of adopting the girl child.
How to apply for the Ladli Laxmi Yojana?
Applications for an eligible girl child can be submitted through an Anganwadi worker, a Public Service Center (Lok Seva Kendra), an internet cafe, or via online channels. To do this, one must visit the official Ladli Laxmi Yojana portal.
Click on the "Apply" (Aavedan Karein) button on the home page.
Next, click on "Self-Declaration" to open a new page. Here, you will need to enter details regarding the girl child's and her family's 'Samagra ID'.
What documents are required for the application?
The girl child's Samagra ID and Family ID.
A photograph of the girl child with her mother or father.
Family planning certificate (in the case of a second girl child).
All required documents must be in formats such as JPG, JPEG, PNG, or GIF; no other formats are accepted.
The file size for all documents must be between 40 KB and 200 KB; files smaller or larger than this range will not be accepted.
How are the funds disbursed?
Under the scheme, the prescribed amount is paid directly into the girls' bank accounts. Therefore, it is crucial to accurately provide bank account details and other necessary information at the time of application.
