Know Who is Ineligible for the Ayushman Card?

 |
Ayushman card

The Ayushman Bharat Yojana, launched by the Central Government of India, aims to provide healthcare benefits to eligible individuals. The scheme offers free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in listed hospitals for those who hold an Ayushman card. However, not everyone qualifies for this scheme. Below are the categories of ineligible people to receive an Ayushman card.

Ineligible Categories for Ayushman Bharat Yojana

PF Beneficiaries

Individuals who are already benefiting from the Provident Fund (PF) scheme are not eligible for the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. The PF scheme typically covers employees in the organized sector, providing them with financial security and retirement benefits, which disqualifies them from the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

Taxpayers

Those who pay income tax are also excluded from availing the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. This includes individuals and households with taxable income, as their financial status is considered stable enough to afford healthcare without additional government assistance.

ESIC Beneficiaries

People who are already availing benefits under the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) scheme cannot take advantage of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. The ESIC scheme provides comprehensive health and social security benefits to workers in the organized sector, making them ineligible for the Ayushman card.

Government Employees

Employees working in various government departments and organizations are not eligible for the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. These individuals usually have access to other government-provided healthcare schemes and benefits, excluding them from this particular scheme.

Financially Well-Off Individuals

Those who are financially stable and well-off are not eligible for the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. The scheme is designed to support economically weaker sections of society, and financially stable individuals do not fall under this category.

Organized Sector Workers

Individuals working in the organized sector are also considered ineligible for the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. This sector typically provides its employees with various benefits, including healthcare, thereby excluding them from the need for additional assistance through this scheme.

The Ayushman Bharat Yojana is a valuable initiative aimed at providing healthcare support to the economically weaker sections of society. However, individuals who benefit from other government schemes like PF, ESIC, and those who are financially stable or work in the organized sector are not eligible for the Ayushman card. Understanding these eligibility criteria is crucial for determining who can benefit from this healthcare scheme and ensuring that the support reaches those who need it most.
