Journey from Head Constable to Inspector

However, in some states, one can also become a sub-inspector directly from head constable by giving departmental examination. After this, after serving as a sub-inspector for a fixed period, one gets promoted to the post of inspector.
The position of DSP is achieved through the State Public Service Commission
According to reports, after serving for seven to ten years on the post of inspector, the state government gives the inspectors a chance to become DSP through the State Public Service Commission in the order of seniority list as per the vacancies in the state's promotee DSP quota.
