The Central Government announced on Monday that 2.95 crore farmers have joined the 'Kisan Sarathi' digital platform so far. This figure includes 56.16 lakh women farmers. The government states that the platform provides farmers with accurate and timely agricultural advice, as well as information on government schemes and weather updates.

What is Kisan Sarathi?
Kisan Sarathi is a digital agricultural advisory platform launched in July 2021. It connects 4,767 ICAR scientists and 113 ICAR institutes with farmers. To date, the platform has answered 19.21 lakh queries from farmers and issued 21,900 agricultural advisories covering 351 agricultural products.

How do farmers benefit?
Through this platform, farmers can ask questions to agricultural experts and receive advice in their local language. It offers essential information on topics such as modern farming techniques, crop care, animal husbandry, fisheries, and horticulture.

Additionally, farmers receive weather updates, information on government schemes, and the facility for direct consultation with experts. The platform also facilitates live interaction in 13 regional languages.

How can farmers join?
According to the government, the highest number of farmers—2.89 crore—registered through their nearest Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK). Apart from this:

5.35 lakh farmers registered via the Kisan Call Centre.
39,193 farmers joined through Common Service Centres (CSCs).
21,517 farmers registered via the mobile app, and
2,416 farmers registered through the web portal.

You, too, can join Kisan Sarathi by using any of these methods. According to the government, Kisan Sarathi's services have now reached 37 states and Union Territories, 768 districts, and 6.63 lakh villages. This platform is also integrated with services such as the Kisan Call Centre, Common Service Centres, the India Meteorological Department, MyScheme, and Bhashini. Through it, farmers gain access to information on 610 government schemes, including 102 central government schemes.

The government states that 'Kisan Sarathi' has established a robust network connecting agricultural experts with farmers across the country. This facilitates the rapid delivery of reliable, science-based advice tailored to farmers' needs, while also helping to bring new information derived from agricultural research directly to the fields.
