The Uttarakhand government has taken strict action against fake websites involved in helicopter ticket booking scams. Cybercriminals are targeting people during the Kedarnath Yatra, which is part of the Chota Char Dham Yatra. According to a report, fraudsters have created fake ticket-booking websites and are promoting them through social media pages. The Uttarakhand Police has asked people to be cautious and several social media pages related to this online scam have been blocked.

Kedarnath Yatra Helicopter Ticket Booking Scam Details

According to a recent report, the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttarakhand Police has shut down 51 websites or URLs, 56 bank accounts, and 30 WhatsApp numbers linked to helicopter booking scams. Also, 111 phone numbers linked to cyber fraud have been blocked.

Fraudsters are trying to lure pilgrims with fake helicopter tickets. These tickets promise rides from places that are not currently supported and are tempting people to pay low prices. Scammers are using social media pages and websites for this.

Uttarakhand Police put up a video on YouTube earlier this month, warning people to be cautious while booking helicopter tickets online. The video said that the police have blocked 37 social media pages that were linked to the scam, while reports say that more pages have been blocked.

In addition, pilgrims have been asked to avoid people who claim to be agents or representatives of helicopter services. They have been asked to report fake websites or social media pages to Uttarakhand STF by calling 1930 or emailing ccps.deh@uttarakhandpolice.uk.gov.in.

Also, the government has advised to check the authenticity of any website before visiting it for helicopter ticket booking. It is important to note that the official portal for all helicopter bookings for Kedarnath is hosted by IRCTC.
