The Finance Ministry informed on Tuesday that a lot of work has been done in the last 10 years to increase the limit of Kisan Credit Card. In 2014, the amount of Kisan Credit Card was only Rs 4.26 lakh crore.

7.72 crore farmers benefited

According to the statement of the ministry, 7.72 crore farmers in the country have benefited from Kisan Credit Card. The increase in the amount of Kisan Credit Card is proof that there has been a significant increase in the cheap loans given to farmers for agriculture and allied activities in the country. At the same time, agricultural activities have also increased in the country. Kisan Credit Cards are issued by the bank. Through this, farmers get cheap loans on time to buy products like seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides.

The limit of Kisan Credit Card kept increasing.

In the year 2019, the government also started extending the benefits of the Kisan Credit Card to farmers engaged in animal husbandry, fisheries, and dairy. The government bears up to 1.5 percent of the interest of banks for issuing Kisan Credit Cards. Farmers get cheap short-term loans of up to Rs 3 lakh at the rate of 7 percent per annum. In his budget speech this year, the Finance Minister has announced to increase this limit to Rs 5 lakh. Not only this, a loan of about Rs 2 lakh will be mortgage-free.
