KCC Loan: Scope of Kisan Credit Card expanded; KCC loan benefits now available for these two purposes..
Agriculture and allied sectors remain the backbone of India's economy. Consequently, providing timely financial assistance to farmers is a government priority. The Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme was launched decades ago with this very objective and has since become a boon for millions of farmers across the country. The scope of this scheme has expanded over time; while it initially provided financial aid for agriculture-related activities, it was later extended to include animal husbandry and various other sectors.
The scope of the Kisan Credit Card has now been further widened to include individuals involved in goat and pig rearing, allowing them to avail of KCC benefits at low interest rates.
Farmers can withdraw funds up to a sanctioned limit using the Kisan Credit Card at any time. The standard interest rate is 7 percent, but the government provides a 3 percent interest subsidy for timely repayment, effectively bringing the interest rate down to 4 percent.
**What can the Kisan Credit Card be used for?**
Purchasing seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides; covering irrigation costs; paying farm laborers' wages; buying small agricultural tools; repairing and maintaining farm equipment; covering post-harvest expenses; obtaining marketing loans for crop sales; and funding dairy, animal husbandry, fisheries, aquaculture, poultry, beekeeping, and sericulture. Goat and pig rearing have now also been included.
Additionally, farmers can withdraw funds from their KCC accounts to meet household and consumption-related needs.
KCC enables farmers to secure loans at very low interest rates without lengthy paperwork or the need for collateral. Farmers can expand their agricultural operations and businesses without worrying about the availability of funds.
There are certain key eligibility criteria for obtaining a Kisan Credit Card, such as being a farmer, owning cultivable land, and possessing the necessary infrastructure (such as sheds) for animal husbandry or land and water bodies for fisheries.
**Required Documents for Kisan Credit Card**
Specific documents are required to apply for the Kisan Credit Card. Documents such as the Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter ID, electricity bill, ration card, and land documents are required for this.
