Kailash Mansarovar Yatra: The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is not merely a religious pilgrimage; it is also a magnificent confluence of faith, courage, and spiritual serenity. Situated amidst the towering heights of the Himalayas, Mount Kailash—the sacred abode of Lord Shiva—and Lake Mansarovar serve as the focal point of deep reverence for millions of devotees. It is believed that undertaking this pilgrimage leads to spiritual purification, the accumulation of merit, and the infusion of positive energy into one's life.

Despite the arduous conditions and challenging terrain, thousands of devotees embark on this divine journey every year, for it is not merely a trip, but a true test of devotion and faith. This year, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is scheduled to take place between June and August. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has announced that the pilgrimage will be conducted via two distinct routes this year. Let us walk you through the complete details regarding the routes, schedule, and registration process for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Routes:
Lipulekh Pass (Uttarakhand)
Nathu La Pass (Sikkim)
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, a total of 20 batches have been constituted for this year's pilgrimage. Of these, 10 batches will consist of 50 pilgrims each. The pilgrimage will be organized in collaboration with the Government of China. The Ministry has further informed that the official website—kmy.gov.in—has been activated to facilitate online applications. The entire application and selection process has now been digitized. Prospective pilgrims are required to register online and complete the application form directly on the website.

Online System for Applications and Grievances:
The MEA has clarified that there is no need to submit any physical applications, letters, or faxes. All subsequent information and responses will be communicated exclusively through the website. The selection of pilgrims will be conducted in a fair, transparent, and randomized manner using a computer-based system. Due consideration will also be given to maintaining a gender balance during this selection process. Applicants have been accorded the flexibility to apply for both routes—indicating their preference—or to opt for a single route of their choice. Meanwhile, the deadline for registration has been set for May 19.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has stated that the online system enables applicants to directly submit their grievances, suggestions, and queries via the portal. This initiative has made the entire pilgrimage process more transparent and streamlined. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra (KMY) holds immense religious and cultural significance. Every year, hundreds of devotees undertake this sacred pilgrimage. For Hindus, this journey is revered as the abode of Lord Shiva, while it also holds special religious significance within Jainism and Buddhism. Before this, in the month of March, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath provided financial assistance of ₹1 lakh each to 555 devotees embarking on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, during an event held at Lok Bhawan.
