Amidst the continuously heated politics on employment, the Modi 3.0 government has accelerated the pace of job creation through large investments in infrastructure. With the approval of infrastructure projects worth Rs 4.19 lakh crore by the Union Cabinet in the last four months, the way has been paved for the creation of about 1.26 crore jobs in the next five years.
The pace of the government recruitment process has also started increasing and during the last four months, appointment letters have been issued to more than 60 thousand people in the ministries and departments of the central government. On the employment front, this pace of all the departments related to the central government has also increased because the target of creating four crore jobs in the next five years through Rs 2 lakh crore in the General Budget 2024-25 is also achieved.
Government sources said that during the last four months, the Cabinet approved major infrastructure projects worth Rs 4.19 lakh crore. This will not only create global-level infrastructure but will also provide employment opportunities to the youth in lakhs of numbers. The government estimates that four to six jobs will be created for every Rs 4.1 crore of infrastructure capital investment.
3.39 crore people will benefit under the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme. Under the PM Internship announced by the government in Parliament, one crore youth will get internships in top companies as well as allowances and one-time assistance. At the same time, 20 lakh youth will be prepared for employment according to the demand of the industry and market by providing them skills in 1000 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the country.
The special thing is that the pace of filling vacant posts has also been given in the government department monitoring the creation of employment. In the Employees Provident Fund Organization and ESIC, appointment letters have been issued to more than 4300 youth on government posts in the last four months and the process of recruitment is going on for 5000 posts.
Among the major infrastructure development projects approved by the Union Cabinet recently, the development of a large port at Vadhavan in Maharashtra for Rs 76,220 crore is special because it alone is estimated to create 12 lakh jobs. Apart from this, 40 lakh jobs will be created from 12 industrial smart cities.
The development of the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) in Gujarat will create 22,000 job opportunities. While 9000 skilled and 7500 semi-skilled jobs will be created during the second phase of the Chennai Metro Rail Project. Along with this, agricultural infrastructure development, PM-Drive will also provide lakhs of employment opportunities to the youth in the coming time.
