There is big and important news for crores of Jan Dhan account holders (Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana - PMJDY) and other bank customers of the country. If you have not updated the KYC (Know Your Customer) of your account for a long time, then now you do not need to visit the bank. On the instructions of the government, all the banks across the country are doing this work free of cost in your village, at your doorstep.

Bank camps are being organized in every village.

Under the supervision of the Department of Financial Services (DFS) of the Government of India and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks across the country are running a nationwide campaign from July 1 to September 30, 2025. Under this campaign, special camps are being organized at every Gram Panchayat (GP) level.

You will get these facilities in these camps-

Re-KYC, i.e., re-verification of old Jan Dhan and other bank accounts, is being done free of cost.

New Jan Dhan accounts are being opened for those who do not have a bank account yet.

You can register your name for important schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) here.

Apart from this, awareness is being spread about unclaimed deposits in these camps, and customer complaints are also being redressed.

Bumper effect seen in the first month itself

This campaign is proving to be very successful at the ground level. In the first month (July) alone, camps have been set up in 1.05 lakh gram panchayats across the country.

Figures for July-

New Jan Dhan accounts opened - 6 lakh+

Connected to PMJJBY - 7 lakh+

Connected to PMSBY - about 12 lakh

Connected to APY - 3 lakh

Re-KYC done for 14.22 lakh accounts

To complete this huge task quickly, banks have also been allowed to take the help of Business Correspondents (BCs). All customers are requested to take full advantage of these camps organized in their nearest Gram Panchayat and keep their bank accounts safe..
