According to the website of the Income Tax Department, a tax refund takes about 4 to 5 weeks. To get a tax refund, you not only have to file an ITR but also e-verify it.
Without e-verification, your ITR will not be valid. This means that if you filed an ITR, but have not e-verified it, then your ITR will be valid.
After e-verification, the tax refund is returned to the taxpayers' account within 4 to 5 weeks.
What to do if the refund does not come
Many times taxpayers give wrong information in ITR. Due to this, their refund is delayed or it fails. If your refund does not come within 4 to 5 weeks, then you should once go to the Income Tax Department website and check the refund status. If the refund fails there, then you will have to request for refund again.
What is the complete process of requesting a refund reissue?
First of all, you have to go to the e-filing portal and select the option of Service Requests.
Now go to Refund Reissue and click on Refund Reissue Request.
After this, you have to select the record and select the reissue request.
Now select the bank account and validate the bank account from the e-filing portal.
After this, you will have to go to Proceed to Verification and select the method of e-verification.
Now you have to select Continue, after which the Refund Reissue Request will reach the Income Tax Department.
