In the last few years, the Income Tax Department has made its process very fast. Now people can file tax returns (ITR Filing) very easily and they are also getting a refund (income tax refund) within a few days. The process of filing income tax returns for the financial year 2023-24 and assessment year 2024-25 has started. In such a situation, it is necessary for all taxpayers falling under the tax slab to file income tax returns on time. Salaried class people who have 10% TDS deducted can also claim it by filing an ITR.

Now taxpayers can easily file income tax returns by following just a few simple steps. If you are also going to file ITR for the first time then it is very important to understand this process. Merely filing an income tax return will not ensure that you get the refund money on time. After this, you will have to complete the last step.

Is e-verification necessary after filing ITR?

For information, let us tell you that if taxpayers want to get their refund on time, then they must complete the process of e-verification after e-filing. If you fail to do so, your ITR will be treated as incomplete and you will not receive the refund on time.

Know within how many days e-verification is required

Generally, you should complete the e-verification work along with filing the ITR, but according to the Income Tax Department, it gives the full 120 days time to complete the e-verification. During this time you can complete the verification process. If you do not complete the e-verification within 120 days of filing the return, your return will not be considered complete and you will not be able to get a refund. You can complete the process of e-verification through a Demat account, Aadhaar or ATM, net banking, or digital signature certificate.

Complete the e-verification process like this

1. For this, first of all, click on the e-filing portal https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/.

2. Further login to the portal by entering your user ID and password.

3. Click on the e-file menu and select the option of e-verification.

4. Next select your PAN number, assessment year, and receipt number of file ITR, and enter your mobile number.

5. Next select the e-verification mode you want to choose.

6. Complete the e-verification process through any of the methods like Demat Account, Aadhaar or ATM, Net Banking, or Digital Signature Certificate (DSC).
