ITR Filing Last Date: Now there is only time till today... Returns are being filed in a hurry, server is overloaded.

Income Tax Filing Last Date: Some problems are being faced on the income tax portal. Many chartered accountants and taxpayers are not able to download their Annual Information Statement (AIS).
Income Tax Filing Deadline: Today i.e. 15 September 2025, is the last chance to file Income Tax Return (ITR). So far, more than 6 crore returns have been filed. To avoid any last minute rush, the Income Tax Department has also arranged 24X7 support service for taxpayers. There is also speculation that the deadline for filing returns may be extended further. However, nothing has been officially said about this yet.
Meanwhile, some problems are being faced on the income tax portal. Many chartered accountants and taxpayers are unable to download their Annual Information Statement (AIS). However, the problem is not in the entire system and not all taxpayers are facing it. It is possible that taxpayers trying to log in at the same time are facing such problems. Sometimes the server gets overloaded due to high traffic.

Since only today and tomorrow are left for filing returns, people are submitting their ITR in a hurry. In such a situation, even if the portal works properly, it is not able to handle the requests of many taxpayers at the same time. You can understand it like a 4-6 lane highway, where due to traffic jam some vehicles are moving slowly, while some are going at speed.
The Income Tax Department had said on social media on September 13, 2025 that AIS can no longer be downloaded through any third-party software tool, so now the only way to download AIS is to first log in to the e-filing ITR portal and then go to the AIS Compliance Portal (https://ais.insight.gov.in/complianceportal/ais). However, some users say that the portal is opening smoothly and AIS can be downloaded in a few seconds. At the same time, for some users, AIS is taking up to 10 minutes to download.
