Looking at the speed at which returns are being filed today, it seems that this time it will cross the figure of 7.8 crores. Earlier, 6.77 crore returns were filed in the assessment year 2023-24, 5.82 crore in 2022-23, and 5.77 crore in 2021-22.
Today is also the deadline for advance tax.
Experts say that due to the second installment of advance tax, the challenges have increased further from the deadline of September 15, which will put a double burden on taxpayers and professionals. Let us tell you that the deadline for paying the second installment of advance tax is also September 15, while its first installment has to be paid by June 15. In the second installment of advance tax, up to 45 percent of the total tax has to be paid.
