The central government extended the date for filing ITR for the financial year 2024-25 to September 15, 2025. Tax experts and CA firms are demanding that this date be extended further. They say that technical difficulties, frequent changes in the form, and portal glitches are causing delays.

The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) and the Chartered Accountants Association, Surat (CAAS) have asked the government to extend the deadline for filing ITR for the assessment year 2025-2026. They say that people are facing a lot of trouble due to technical problems and changes in the form, which is causing a delay in filing ITR.

This is the main reason.
Both organizations have written a letter to the Chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes and appealed to extend the ITR deadline. FKCCI said in its letter that taxpayers and professionals are facing a lot of problems due to major changes in the ITR form, technical glitches, and system problems. FKCCI President MG Balakrishna wrote that due to changes in the ITR form and technical glitches in the system, there is a delay in preparing for filing returns. Due to these problems, it is becoming difficult to follow the board's deadline.

At the same time, the Chartered Accountants Association Surat has also demanded that the date of ITR filing be extended from September 15. The organization has demanded to extend the date due to portal glitches, natural disasters, and has also added in its demand that festivals are coming in the near future, so all taxpayers will prepare for the festival and not be entangled in the technical glitches of ITR.

Harid Kakadiya, President of the Chartered Accountants Association, Surat, said that nowadays the tax portal dominates the work of taxation. Therefore, it is very important to get the necessary software updates on time to fill out different forms. But CBDT releases these forms late, and only they know the reason for this. The software company, now Infosys Limited, takes a lot of time to deliver these updated forms to the users, and when these forms arrive, they come with a lot of technical issues which become a headache for the users.
