Bank Holiday 2026: Planning to go to the bank next week? Be careful! A long series of holidays is coming between January 23rd and 26th, which will affect banking operations across the country. Check this list of holidays before leaving home to go to the bank.

Bank Holiday 2026: If you are planning to go to the bank next week, please check the list of holidays. Often, people reach the bank without knowing about the holidays and find it closed. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has stated that banks will be closed between January 19th and January 25th for various reasons. Therefore, check whether the bank is open in your city before leaving home.

Holidays on the birth anniversaries of these great personalities

The series of holidays will begin at the start of next week. On January 23rd (Friday), banks will be closed in Agartala, Kolkata, and Bhubaneswar on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose (Parakram Diwas) and the birth anniversary of the revolutionary Veer Surendra Sai of Odisha. Along with this, the festival of Saraswati Puja and Basant Panchami will also be celebrated in many states, which will affect banking operations locally.

Continuous closure from Saturday to Monday

After the regional holidays on January 23rd, January 24th is the fourth Saturday of the month, due to which all banks across the country will be closed. The next day is Sunday, a holiday, and then January 26th is a national holiday for Republic Day. This means that banks may remain closed for 4 consecutive days from Friday to Monday in many cities. In such a situation, you will have to make preparations in advance for cash shortages or necessary paperwork.

Important information for the common man

If you have any work that cannot be done without going to the bank, such as KYC or check clearance, then get it done in time. However, the good news is that even if the bank branches are closed, your online banking, UPI payments, and ATM services will remain operational. You can use a mobile app for financial transactions, but for paperwork, you'll have to wait for the bank to open.
