Is your account at SBI safe following a data leak? The bank itself provides an update.
SBI, the country's largest public sector bank, has been in the spotlight recently. Following a leak of sensitive customer data, the bank has issued an important notice to its customers.
State Bank of India (SBI), the nation's largest public sector bank, is currently the subject of much discussion. Some confidential customer data has been leaked on the dark web, causing significant concern among the bank's clientele. Customers are now questioning whether their money—as well as their other assets and confidential information—remains secure with the bank.
SBI has now addressed these concerns. Through its social media channels, the bank has issued a statement assuring customers that their funds and financial assets remain safe.

A post shared via the bank's official X (formerly Twitter) account aims to alleviate the fears and concerns of its customers. The post states: "Important information for customers. The bank further reassured customers that this incident has had no significant impact on its IT systems, banking operations, financial performance, or general day-to-day functions.
What about the customers' money?
In the same post, the bank confirmed that customer funds are entirely secure. It stated: "Customer funds are completely safe. The bank is taking all necessary measures to protect the interests of its customers. Safeguarding our customers' financial assets, their data, and the trust they place in the bank remains our top priority."
It is worth noting that reports have emerged indicating that the data of 3,897 SBI customers has been leaked. This data has been leaked on the dark web, with reports indicating that information such as customers' names, phone numbers, and addresses has been exposed. Following this, the primary concern was whether the funds of other customers held by the bank remained secure—a point the bank has now clarified.
