Aadhar Card Loan Check: Is someone taking out loans in your name? Misuse of your Aadhar card can ruin your CIBIL score. Learn an easy way to check for fraudulent loans using your mobile phone.
Aadhar Card Loan Check: In the digital age, the Aadhar card has become the most important document for our identity. From getting a SIM card to opening a bank account, it's needed everywhere. However, along with convenience, the risks have also increased. In recent times, several cases have come to light where people are unaware that fraudsters have taken out loans worth lakhs using their Aadhar number. They only find out when they receive recovery calls from the bank or when their credit score is checked after a loan rejection. If you don't want to face such trouble in the future, check today on your mobile phone how many loans are active in your name.
Why is it important to check?
We often give copies of our Aadhar card at hotels, cyber cafes, or photocopy shops. Fraudsters use this data to take out small loans from fraudulent loan apps or finance companies. The consequence is that your CIBIL score gets damaged if the loans are not repaid. In the future, when you actually need a home loan or a car loan, the bank will refuse you.
How to find out about fraudulent loans?
You can get this information for free from your mobile phone at home. For this, you will need to check your CIBIL Report or credit report. You can check for fraudulent loans step-by-step using the methods given below.
From the CIBIL website
- Go to the official website cibil.com.
- Click on ‘Get your Free CIBIL Score’.
- Create an account by entering your name, email ID, and PAN card/Aadhar number.
- After logging in, you will see the ‘Account Information’ or ‘Active Loans’ section. Here you will find a list of all the loans associated with your PAN/Aadhaar. If you see any loan that you did not take out, it means you have been a victim of fraud.
- Check your CIBIL Report with Paytm or Google Pay
- Open the Paytm app and type ‘Credit Score’ in the search bar.
- Confirm your PAN number.
- Once the report opens, click on ‘All Loan Accounts’.
- Here you will see all your active and closed loans.
What to do if you find a fraudulent loan?
- If you find a loan in your CIBIL Report that you did not take out, don't panic. Take these steps immediately…
- Inform the bank: Immediately call the customer care of the bank or finance company (whose name is in the report) and inform them that you did not take out this loan.
- CIBIL Dispute: Go to the CIBIL website and raise a ‘Dispute’ against that loan.
- Complain to RBI: If the bank does not cooperate, file a complaint with the RBI Ombudsman or on the cybercrime portal (cybercrime.gov.in).
