UDGAM Portal: Have you ever checked if you have money lying in an old bank account? Now there's an easy way to find out. Check in time so you don't miss out on what's rightfully yours.

People often forget about old bank accounts over time. Sometimes they change jobs, sometimes they move to a new city, sometimes they open a new account and forget about the old one. But the money in that account remains safe there. Now, the RBI is raising awareness among people about such forgotten accounts.

If you also think that you have unclaimed money in any of your accounts, you can get that money back. However, for this, you first need to find out which account holds your unclaimed money.

You don't need to run around anywhere to find out if there is any unclaimed money in a bank account in your name. You can easily find this out from the comfort of your home by visiting the RBI's UDGAM portal.

The UDGAM portal provides data from several banks. This eliminates the need to visit different banks. To use it, go to https://udgam.rbi.org.in/unclaimed-deposits/ and register with your mobile number.

After that, log in and select the 'Individual' tab. Then enter your name, select the bank name or 'All', and fill in your identification details. Upon searching, the system will show whether there are any unclaimed deposits in your name.

If the details show that your money is lying unclaimed in a particular bank, getting it back is quite easy. You can visit any branch of your bank. There, you will need to submit the necessary documents. After that, the process of transferring the money to your account will begin.

These documents include KYC documents such as Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, or passport. Once the verification is complete, the money, along with interest, will be transferred to your active account.
