IRCTC: If you also travel by train and often face difficulties due to delays, then this facility of Indian Railways can be very useful for you. If your train is delayed by more than three hours or the AC in your coach is not working, then you can get a refund with the help of TDR.

IRCTC: Even today, most people resort to Indian Railways for long-distance travel. Many types of facilities are provided in the train for the convenience of the passengers. However, if there is any inconvenience during the journey, then in certain circumstances, one also gets the right to get a refund.

For this, they have to go to the official website of IRCTC and file TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt). Let us know what is this TDR and how you can get your refund with its help.

What is TDR?

Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR) is filed in a situation when a passenger is unable to travel in the train or a serious problem arises during the journey. For example, in case of problems like the coach not being attached, AC not working or train route being changed, the passenger can file a TDR on the IRCTC website. Through this, he can start the process of refunding the amount spent on his ticket.

How to file TDR in IRCTC?

First of all login to www.irctc.co.in.

Go to the 'My Account' section and click on the 'File TDR' option under 'My Transactions'.

Enter the PNR number for which you want to file TDR.

Select the appropriate reason from the dropdown list why you did not travel.

Select the persons from the list of passengers who did not travel.

After this click on the 'File TDR' button.

Read the instructions that appear on the screen carefully and click on 'Yes'.

After the process is completed, you will see the message “TDR Successfully Filed”.

Under what conditions will you get a full refund

If your train is running 3 hours or more late from the scheduled time and you have not started the journey, then you can cancel your ticket and get a full refund.

If the air conditioner is not working in the AC coach, then the passenger can file a TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt) within 20 hours of the train reaching the destination station.

When the route of the train is changed and the passenger has not traveled, then in that case it is necessary to file a TDR within 72 hours from the scheduled departure time.

If the train is diverted and does not reach the boarding station, then also the passenger has to file a TDR within 72 hours from the scheduled departure time.

If all the passengers had partially confirmed tickets and no one could travel, then in such a case TDR can be filed up to 30 minutes before the departure of the train from the scheduled boarding station.

If the journey could not be completed due to technical fault in the coach, then it is necessary to file TDR within 3 hours from the actual departure time of the train.
If the train could not reach its destination and was stopped midway (short termination), then in such a situation TDR can be filed within 72 hours from the scheduled arrival time of the train.
