Recently, the Mohan Yadav government of Madhya Pradesh approved a proposal during a cabinet meeting to extend its major flagship schemes—the 'Ladli Behna Yojana' and 'Ladli Lakshmi Yojana 2.0'—for the next five years (from 2026-27 to 2030-31) and to expand their scope. However, there is considerable confusion among the public regarding these schemes, with many mistakenly believing that the Ladli Behna Yojana is merely an updated version of the Ladli Lakshmi Yojana. Let us explain both schemes in detail and highlight the differences between them.

In reality, the Ladli Behna Yojana and Ladli Lakshmi Yojana are two of the Madhya Pradesh government's most significant schemes. While both are linked to women's empowerment, their objectives, eligibility criteria, age limits, and the financial benefits provided differ significantly.

**Which scheme is for whom?**
The Ladli Behna Yojana is designed for women; it provides a monthly allowance to foster self-reliance. Beneficiaries include married, widowed, and divorced women. In contrast, the Ladli Lakshmi Yojana is intended for daughters, covering stages from birth through education and marriage; this scheme aims to support the advancement of daughters.

**Key differences between Ladli Behna Yojana and Ladli Lakshmi Yojana**

**Ladli Behna Yojana**
