Is the benefit of the Matru Vandana Yojana available for a second pregnancy? What are the rules?
PM Matru Vandana Yojana: The Matru Vandana Yojana has been updated with new rules. Now, benefits will also be available for the second child. However, it is important to know the conditions under which the benefit will be provided.
The government runs many schemes for the women of the country, benefiting millions of women. Many women in the country are not financially well-off. The government assists such women during pregnancy.
The government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana to strengthen the health of pregnant women and newborn babies. Under this scheme, the government provides Rs. 5000 to women for their first child, which is given in different installments.
Now, many women are wondering whether a woman who becomes a mother for the second time will also receive the benefits of this scheme. The answer is yes. However, certain conditions have been set for this.
Earlier, under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, assistance of Rs. 5000 was given only for the birth of the first child. Now, the scheme has been upgraded to include benefits for the second child as well. Importantly, if the second child is a girl,
The government will provide an incentive of Rs. 6000. Eligible women will need to apply to receive the benefit. No amount will be given without an application. It is necessary to provide all the required documents during the application process. The benefit will be provided only after the application is verified and found to be correct.
The registration process will now be done through the new portal https://pmmvy.wcd.gov.in/. Earlier, where the amount of Rs. 5000 was given in three installments, now for the first child, this amount will be given in two installments. The first installment will be Rs. 3000, and the second installment will be Rs. 2000.
It is important to note that if the second child is a girl, registration is mandatory within 270 days of her birth. That is, if the second daughter was born after April 1, 2025, then the application can be submitted until September 30, 2026. After applying online, the amount will be sent directly to your bank account.
