Is someone else's loan showing in your CIBIL Report? Your credit score is in danger! How will it be fixed? Know RBI's rules.
Many types of complaints come up regarding CIBIL reports. For example, there may be loan/credit card accounts that have been closed, but such accounts are shown as active in your CIBIL report. But, there is another case where a loan or credit card is showing in your CIBIL report which you have not even taken. In such a situation, your credit score is in danger. Now the question is how will this be fixed and is there any rule of RBI for this?
Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das clarified that customers do not need to worry too much about the error in their CIBIL. Customers can also register their complaints directly through RBI. Many such cases have come to light, where the customer's CIBIL score got spoiled without any fault or default in loan payment.
Your credit score gets spoiled due to wrong information given to CIBIL by the bank or other financial institutions. In such a situation, a customer can contact the CIBIL complaint resolution cell to resolve these complaints.
If a wrong account is showing in your CIBIL report or someone else's loan is showing, which you have nothing to do with, then you can fill out the CIBIL online dispute form on the official website of CIBIL. You can get it corrected.
You can go to the official website https://www.cibil.com/dispute open the 'Contact Us' section and fill out the dispute form.
Complaints related to CIBIL can be informed to the company by calling the consumer helpline number 22-61404300. You can contact this number from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm. If the customer wants, he can also fax his complaint to the company at 22-66384666.
Not only this, you can also send an e-mail to CIBIL's email ID info-cibil.com. Before sending an e-mail, check that your identity and complaint details are written. If you want, you can go to the registered office of CIBIL and meet a consumer service officer and tell your complaint.
If even after 30 days of your complaint, the problem is not resolved and your credit score is not updated, then you can complain directly to the Reserve Bank. Credit information companies have also been brought under the purview of the Reserve Bank Integrated Ombudsman Scheme-2021.
