How to reset the IRCTC password
You can reset your IRCTC password in two ways - through email and a registered mobile number.
Reset IRCTC password through email ID
First, go to the official IRCTC website and click on the 'Forgot Password' link.
You will be asked to enter your username. Enter it and go to the next step.
You will be redirected to a page where you have to answer a security question. Here the same question will be asked which you had set while creating the account.
On answering the security question correctly, you will receive an email from IRCTC. This email will contain instructions to reset the password.
Follow the instructions in the email to reset your password.
IRCTC Password Reset via Mobile Number
Go to the IRCTC website and click on the 'Forgot Password' link.
Enter your username and the captcha code shown, then proceed.
You will be redirected to the password reset page. Here you will have to enter your registered mobile number.
An OTP (one-time password) will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP on the password reset page.
After entering the OTP, you will be asked to enter a new password. Confirm the new password and enter it again.
Enter the captcha code and submit your new password.
While creating a password, include letters, numbers, and special characters in the password. Do not keep passwords like 'password123' or 'abcdef'.
