IRCTC Good News: Pure, Satvik, and delicious! These trains offer delicious food from restaurants like Haldiram's..
Complaints about poor-quality food on trains are often seen on social media. Sometimes it's thin dal, sometimes undercooked rice, sometimes dry roti, and sometimes poor-quality paneer. If you, too, are unable to eat on trains due to such reasons, then IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) has good news for you. You won't have to eat poor quality food while traveling on trains. IRCTC has launched an initiative to provide pure, sattvik, and delicious food on trains. Under this initiative, you will be served food from famous restaurants on trains.
Meal Trials on Select Trains
To improve food quality, IRCTC has currently initiated meal trials on select Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains. According to IRCTC, these meal trials have been initiated as a proof-of-concept. The purpose of this new experiment is to separate the food preparation and serving processes. This means that the responsibility of food preparation lies with one person (famous restaurants), while the responsibility of serving lies with another (IRCTC).
Haldiram, ISKCON, Sarovar Portico Food
IRCTC has partnered with some popular food brands, major hotels, and flight caterers to provide quality food on trains. As part of this trial, passengers are being offered quality food on several routes. For example, the Nagpur-Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express now offers Haldiram and Elior food. The Anand Vihar Amrit Bharat Express now offers sattvik food prepared by ISKCON. If you are traveling on the Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express, you will be served food from the famous Vaishno Devi Sarovar Portico Hotel.
IRCTC claims that under this initiative, passengers are being offered local delicacies, i.e., delicious food from local hotels as well as food from famous restaurants. Based on positive feedback from passengers, the catering service will be improved on other trains in the future.
