IndiGo launches 'IndiGo Lite' fare; bookings open—find out what this new fare is all about...
If you travel by air with only a cabin bag and do not require extra baggage or additional amenities, there is good news for you. IndiGo has introduced a new 'IndiGo Lite' fare for such travelers. The aim of this new fare is to offer an affordable travel option to those who prefer flying with only essential amenities. This means passengers can now choose tickets based on their specific needs and avoid paying for services they do not require.
When can bookings be made?
Bookings for the IndiGo Lite fare opened on July 1, 2026. However, travel under this fare category will commence on July 15, 2026. This facility will be available on all non-stop domestic and international flights. Passengers can select this fare for one-way, round-trip, and multi-city bookings. The option is available for both adults and children.
What does IndiGo Lite offer?
Under this fare, passengers can carry a cabin bag weighing up to 7 kg. Additionally, the airline will provide an auto-assigned seat; this means the airline selects the seat, and passengers do not have to pay any extra charge for it.
Add-on services available if needed
If a passenger requires check-in baggage, a preferred seat, in-flight meals, or priority services like 'Fast Forward,' these can be purchased separately. These add-ons can be purchased via the IndiGo website, mobile app, contact center, or at the airport up to one hour before the flight. This ensures passengers pay only for the services they actually need.
Benefits of BluChip points
Passengers opting for IndiGo Lite will continue to enjoy the benefits of the BluChip loyalty program. They can earn loyalty points as usual and redeem them whenever required.
Why is it beneficial for passengers? According to Alok Singh, Chief Strategy Officer at IndiGo, this new fare is designed for travelers who carry minimal luggage and wish to pay only for essential amenities, making their travel more cost-effective. With the addition of this new option, IndiGo’s '6E Ways to Fly' now includes Saver, Flexi Plus, IndiGo UpFront, IndiGoStretch, Stretch+, and IndiGo Lite. This allows passengers to easily select a ticket that aligns with their specific needs, preferences, and budget.
Things to Note
Bookings for 'IndiGo Lite' can be made exclusively through IndiGo’s official website, mobile app, and contact center; this fare will not be available on other platforms. Therefore, if you travel with light luggage, this new fare could prove to be a great way to save money.
