Due to heavy rains, train operations are getting delayed. Recently, a video also went viral on social media in which fish were seen swimming on the railway track in Mumbai. Passengers are facing a lot of trouble due to the delay in the train.
In such a situation, passengers have the right to get a ticket refund if the train is delayed by 3 hours or more. Today we will tell you about the rules related to train ticket refunds of Indian Railways.
Terms and Conditions of Indian Railways
If the train you are going to travel by, but that train is running late by more than 3 hours, then you can easily claim a refund. However, this facility is not available to passengers with confirmed Tatkal tickets. This means that if you have a confirmed Tatkal ticket, then you cannot claim a refund for it.
To claim a refund, passengers have to file a Ticket Deposit Receipt. You can file TDR by visiting the official website of IRCTC. Apart from this, you can also claim a refund offline i.e. by going to the ticket counter. According to the rules of Indian Railways, the refund amount will come to your bank account within 90 days of filing TDR.
Process of filing TDR online (TDR Filing Process)
First of all, go to the official website of IRCTC and log in with the help of a user ID and password.
Now go to the option of 'Services' and click on "File Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR)".
After this, select "File TDR" in the tab of My Transactions.
Now you have to send a claim request. After the request is accepted, you will get a refund in a few days.
Let us tell you that the ticket refund will come from the same bank account from which the ticket is booked. On surrendering the ticket offline, you will have to provide bank account details.
