The Central Government has heightened vigilance regarding railway security across the country. Following several recent incidents of arson and suspicious activity linked to the railway network, the Ministry of Railways has issued a high alert. The Ministry stated that preliminary investigations into several cases have revealed the involvement of anti-social elements, a matter currently being investigated by the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

A high-level security review meeting, chaired by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, was also held at Rail Bhawan in New Delhi. The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Ministers of State for Railways V. Somanna and Ravneet Singh Bittu.

**High-Level Review of Security Arrangements**

During the meeting, recent incidents occurring across the railway network were reviewed in detail. Railway officials noted that, in several instances, major accidents were averted thanks to the vigilance and prompt action of railway staff. According to the Ministry of Railways, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) is investigating these incidents, and a constant watch is being maintained on suspicious activities.

**Surveillance via AI, Drones, and CCTV**

The Ministry of Railways announced that modern technologies will now be utilized on a large scale to ensure the security of trains, railway stations, and the entire network. As part of this initiative, AI-based surveillance systems, drone surveillance, and CCTV coverage are being rapidly expanded. Emphasis was also placed on fostering better coordination—from the Railway Board down to the field level—and on strengthening cyber security. The meeting also included discussions on further reinforcing the process of intelligence and information sharing between the Railway Protection Force and the Government Railway Police (GRP).

**Appeal to Passengers**

The Railways has urged passengers not to ignore any suspicious individuals, unattended luggage, or unusual activities while traveling. Passengers are requested to immediately report anything they deem suspicious to the railway helpline number, 139. The Railways emphasizes that passenger vigilance often plays a crucial role in preventing major accidents. Heightened Concerns Following Recent Incidents
According to the Ministry of Railways, certain recent incidents involving the railway network have heightened the concerns of security agencies. Consequently, security protocols are being re-evaluated, and surveillance is being intensified in sensitive areas. The government's current focus is on establishing a technology-driven security framework to ensure the timely detection of any potential threats and to maintain the safety of train operations.
